Firefox>Options>Options>Tabs> Open new windows in a new tab instead. This is the only setting I have tried. Whether is checked or unchecked still created a new empty tab when I open a Zotero pdf item. Wish that helps. Thanks.

Dear Gracile. Dan's "answer" was not an answer but a question. This new post explains all the info necessary to describe the problem.
-
Adam. I tested dragging a Zotero BibTex item into Word and Bibdata looks fine. So what I did is to install an older version of Jabref 2.6 (2011) and the dragging now works fine. So for other users that might encounter same issue, the problem happ…

Hey Adam. Thanks a lot. Yes I had copied only the attachments. Now is fine.
-
Thanks. Will do.
-
I have sent them an email as you suggest. Thank you Dan.
-
Dan, I got it. Your IRS example, simply hilarious. Thank you!
-
My apologies Dan, you are correct I have should mention my system. Windows 7, Firefox.
-
Dan. When dragging the link (or icon) it does not bring the pdf into the Zotero item it just reproduces what Zotero does when you click on the Item icon right on the left of the Favorite Icon. Maybe I am not being clear on the issue. Some journal…

Thanks Dan. Would you mind telling me how to drag the pdf into my Zotero item then? In other words, once the pdf is open, then what?
-
Thank you Adam.
-
Maybe you are right. I'll be more careful with the proxy thing but if you could give some guidelines on how to tell what proxy is a good proxy I would really appreciate it.
-
Regarding your question on how do I know it is Zotero. There is a message that says "Zotero redirects...proxy...". Thanks.
-
I deleted all the proxies in Preferences and now Zotero redirects correctly. Not sure what caused the sudden change but now is showing me correct journals and links. Thanks.
-
Yesterday Zotero redirected to a psicologhy journal instead of a Physics journal, today Zotero redirects to a page that can not be found with following url http://dp.thomsonib.com/doi/full/10.1021/jz101535f But like I said it is not the same …

Thanks. Yes. This worked pretty well for me. Cheers.

Hi Dan. I looks like I didn't update to 2.1.1 before doing Firofox 4 update. Does this mean that I lost all my papers that were not synchronized?, Is it okay just to download Zotero 2.1.1 and install?
-
Yes indeed. Thanks a bunch!
-
Thanks. That worked alright.
-
Adam, yes, that is it. Thanks. Have a great weekend.

sdvillal. Is not clear what you want to do. But let me just say a few things it might help. In zotero you do not have control on where the files are stored, Zotero creates its own storage folder in your computer. Every pdf you drag into the drop…

Adamsmith. I am doing what you suggested, it is really easy with metadata, it creates the item with title, but the retrieve-metadata works for about 70% of the files although they are 100% indexed. That I don't understand. I am looking into JSTOR…

Bionatsci. I actually don't mind having the same "tab" labeled as applications/pdf. It is the actual name of the file that bugs me. Thanks for sharing your way of working around the problem.

Hi. This thread was started by CB on October 10, 2006. Do we have pdf duplicate detection yet?
-
Ajlyon. I tried to follow your instructions but I don't seem to find what you say. Could you please be more specific on "First set the item data (in the right panel) to the correct bibliographic data" In the panel located to my right I don't seem…

Dan, okay man its done. ID: D2032401170 Thanks.
-
Hi. Yes. ID 597808687. Like I said it is just the length of the filename. Thanks for being so professional about it.
-
Yes Anders, thank you. I understand now.
-
Thank you Dan. The problem was indeed in the filename however it was not a character what was causing the error. Zotero doesn't allow to drag files with filenames longer than 155 characters or so. I tried 150 characters in filename and drags fine…
