Could I get a copy of that bib file? BBT should not be blowing up on bibtex imports.
-
For completeness sake: if BBT is installed, it will handle the import, not Zotero BibTeX. This is not (cannot be) configurable, as the translator priorities are hard-coded into the translators. If BBT handles the import, the citekey will show up in…
-
@bwiernik the behavior you described earlier is correct; if the citekey is not imported correctly that would be a bug (but a weird one, as my test suite would fail in multiple places if that were the case). As @bwiernik says, the imported key will …

That's the "Location of files" options, correct?
-
If I recall correctly, ZotFile had a facility to automatically change file attachments (live in the zotero data directory) to linked files (live outside the zotero data directory). Do I recall correctly? I can't find the documentation on this featur…
-
For those who stumble into this thread: BBT did not do an automatic update of the citation keys; it just generated different keys than the stock Zotero BibTeX would. The stock export including the keys it generates is of course still available. The …

5.0.2.4145.master was a pre-release build from before BBT was feature-complete; the early builds beta builds did not auto-update.
-
Yes, please do, but also upgrade to BBT v5.0.69 first. I'm not sure which build 5.0.2.41.45, but it must be a diagnostic build; release builds are numbered major.minor.patch.
-
Not automatically, no.
-
@mddavila the applescript also pastes the results in the app that was running when you called up the picker and restores the clipboard to what it had before the picker puts its data in the clipboard.

all references in one file: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/38c09bd18ed49645eb935326c0080943
-
I can get you a combined file holding all these references; you'd install BBT, import this file, and uninstall BBT.
-
It's most definitely only useful for latex fiends, but technically it is a solution to the question as initially stated :)
-
BBT can do this if you have an aux file
-
I do have quite a few test references (138 test cases with 1589 references in all) and you're more than welcome to use them, but they're not in a format that Zotero can import without help -- they're straight JSON dumps of what the importer expects,…

I've tried paperpile on and off (I was one of the early beta testers and I have a free account as a result). The integration with GDocs is super nice, but as a general reference manager, I like zotero lots better. Doesn't help that it will *only* wo…

On a general note, for BBT support, your best bet is to head over to https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-better-bibtex/issues . I don't frequent these forums much.
-
(as you've noticed, you will only get this message once, on first run when you got the default pattern) To roll your keys back, change the pattern in the BBT prefs, select all your references, right-click, and choose "refresh".
-
The message said Your citekey pattern is set to the default '[auth][shorttitle][year]'. Please make sure this is the pattern you want, or change it in the preferences -- references will have citekeys formatted by it. If you have references generate…

If the blank pane is a BBT problem, I can only fix this if people report it on GitHub. I've obviously not seen the problem myself or I'd have fixed it.

I'm @emilianoeheyns here -- @emilianoheyns is an old account of mine I wish I could recover. The few seconds at each start is preventable if you don't want it; the 35 minute wait is unfortunate but is a one-time thing and is nothing I can do much a…

That's what I was wondering about. Isn't there a desktop icon in the archive of the releases? I thought there was.
-
@Nachury never got a DB to toy with, but if you're not looking to convert the collection info, follow @adamsmith 's recommendation.

Could something like this be used to auto-update the snaps: https://build.snapcraft.io/ ? How would https://github.com/ibaidev/zotero-snap auto-update zotero when a new release comes out? Do you know where snaps are installed? I could well use this…

I had forgotten about async/await. Which is odd, because I use it pretty much exclusively over coroutine. In flux meaning "don't bother for a while"? I'm fine with that.
-
@dstillman: * Does the async: true only relate to the import? If a translator does both import and export, export is still sync right? * When configOptions.async is set to true, item.complete() always returns a promise, correct? * Promise.corouti…

I'd have the same concerns that once kicked off BBT; * will the key generation algorithm be configurable (your answer seems to imply "possibly"), and if so, how * will plugins such as BBT be allowed to influence the key generation behavior, and if…
-
@adamsmith this field would be optionally filled by the user? Pre-filled in some way?
-
It was indeed recently disabled in BBT, and it's unlikely to come back until 5.1 implements the citekey field.
-
And set the default format to "Better BibTeX CItation Key Quick Copy" if you want only the citation key.
