Sort and edit has been implemented! And the UI is better than in the 4.0 version I think (not that that is a high bar to meet)
-
https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-report-customizer will work in the interim.
-
I have some ideas but I'd prefer people with more expertise handle this - the zotero developers monitor these forums and I'm sure they'll hop in as soon as they can.
-
Others will be better able to assist you in restoring the db, but you want that copy somewhere safe outside the zotero directory.
-
Yep. Save a copy of that.
-
In either case, look in your one zotero files *now* to see whether you have an unaffected backup of the zotero database. Zotero does keep backups, you may be able to restore from this.
-
Did she have a synced collection, which she deleted in Zotero, or did she uninstall Zotero and deleted the files from disk? The 2nd scenario shouldn't have affected your copy at all.
-
It's possible, but since accounts are free, it wouldn't be substantially different from each having their own account, and it would give you more opportunity to manage access (e.g. when people leave the group)
-
@dstillman if you think it's helpful, I have a plugin which will: * keep debug logging on * save the debug log on a schedule (default 10 minutes) * save the debug log when the "collection" notifier fires, including the collection(s) for which it wa…
-
(alternately I'd be happy to put together a plugin that pops up an alert whenever a collection is deleted or moved -- which would be hugely annoying of course, but at least an unexpected collection change would be detected instantly and the actions …

Perhaps for this particular case the debug log could be enabled by default by changing the launch shortcut to pass "-ZoteroDebugText"? Then the debug log submitted will have the SQL queries -- perhaps if it can be spotted right after it happens, the…

Ah, then the Zotero translation server hasn't been updated with the new stock BibTeX translator -- I thought it would be picked up automatically daily. I don't know what the actual schedule is for the translation server to be updated, but as soon as…

If you pin your keys and have sync turned on, they should now show up through the regular Overleaf-Zotero integration.
-
Mind that attachments can live in multiple collections. Not sure how zotfile deals with that.
-
But if that's all it does, I really don't know what happened. Running the smathot installer (just guessing here, but that uses /opt) with sudo wouldn't have started Zotero, if the installer and subsequent start would have been ran in a root shell, t…

My mistake -- I thought I recalled there being a shell script to install Zotero and create desktop files, but there is indeed none. I may be remembering https://github.com/smathot/zotero_installer/blob/master/zotero_installer.sh, but that doesn't st…

Oh BTW the BBT citation keys are accessible to other plugins, and Zotero is moving towards having a formal citekey field, and in the interim, having "Citation Key: something" in the extra field (not coincidentally also how BBT pins its keys) will do…

ii.1/2 best ask jlewegie (the zotfile dev) ii.3 On https://www.zotero.org/support/plugins, under "Zotero Development", you'll find two ways of getting started writing a plugin. In this case, you will probably want to create a Zotero notification ha…

i - it's funny that you call it iTunes for PDF -- iTunes has historically pushed the idea hard that you shouldn't care where your music files are as you are supposed to access them using iTunes. In any case, from a UI point of view, Zotero already a…

You may only have to mess with assignments to attachmentFilename. Not tested in any kind of way. Very tricky territory.
-
Even if you want to do that. My own plugin augments a lot of behavior by live-patching existing behavior (aka "monkey-patching"). You have to be careful or it will be fragile, but it's less work than maintaining a forked Zotero. You probably only ha…

Before you try something like forking Zotero -- there's hardly anything that can't be accomplished by plugins.
-
Sorry about that! That one's on me.
-
That really shouldn't have been necessary -- Zotero works just fine when installed as/by root. The unofficial ubuntu packages at https://launchpad.net/~retorquere/+archive/ubuntu/zotero do this. The cache directory in the home directory is another m…

Great idea -- added to the report customizer.
-
With the newest Zotero BibTeX/BibLaTeX translators, pinned keys from BBT will also show up via the regular Zotero-Overleaf integration. Not sure on the timeline for that translator to make it into the web API, but that is likely going to be soon.
-
The official Overleaf-Zotero integration pulls from the Zotero web API. It won't have (can't have) access to BBT citation keys. This will change in the future when Zotero gets a citation key field, but right now, if you want BBT keys, the git integr…

Work has restarted on the Report Customizer for Zotero 5. Reordering doesn't work yet, but removal does. Available at https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-report-customizer.
