For historical reasons, Zotero uses the same plugin framework as FF used to have, and which WF still supports, so for WF it looks like it could be a legitimate plugin. There's nothing I can do to prevent WF from trying to install it, but in this cas…

I'm not entirely sure how that marker comes about -- BBT CAYW always encodes the string zu: or zg: in the output. It may be an artifact from pasting (some programs try to "help" by autocorrecting stuff). Easy to test by just opening http://127.0.0.1…

What you're seeing there is the scannable cite marker. You can drop those into a ODF doc and then run ODF scan to make them into proper citations. If you want plain-text citations directly, you'll have to change the format= part in the applescript c…

If by "the plugin" you mean the collection tracker debug plugin, it's not meant to be installed in FF (or WF) but in Zotero itself.

I know, I was just joshing :)

There's always biblatex :)

.n.d. Will also (currently) only work on bbt. There are ways to get bbt output elsewhere, but none are as frictionless as the formal zotero api. Auto-export to a Dropbox folder is likely the lowest friction you're going to get for bbt. Other option…

My pleasure. For other formats you would change this line so the format= is set to what you want -- formatted-citation for in-text citations, or formatted-bibliography for a formatted bibliography. But if you can use ODF-Scan, you will have automate…

Depends on whether the export is for bibtex or biblatex. In either case, BBT tries to parse a date from the datefield; if it finds one: bibtex: year to year, month, if present, to month biblatex: normalized date goes to date If BBT can’t parse wha…

I don't have a Mac at hand, but here's how it'd work, roughly: First you set up zotpick-scannable-cite.applescript from https://github.com/davepwsmith/zotpick-applescript . That will give you an application that, when ran, will pop up the floating …

I don't think I've seen MS Access described as fit for "writing programs to routinely manage complex database" before. Even though my first reflex is usually to seek out open source solutions, I would not recommend LibreOffice base. I find it to b…

It's also sort-of-possible in other applications (sans any of the benefits of ODF scan mentioned by @fbennett), using BBTs CAYW (which would provide the floating part), but triggering the floating picker from a hotkey (and pasting the results into t…

It's possible with a little jerry-rigging, but how the jerry-rig is put together is platform dependent. What OS are you using?
-
Zotero needs to be restarted after the plugin settings have changed as it will only read the settings on startup; I've added this to the README. Note that disabling the tracker plugin doesn't do anything until Zotero is restarted.

(this is aside the fact that APA is clearly the superior bibliographic style and its use should be encouraged everywhere)

In any case, bringing these two samples to her might show proactivity on your part and maybe then she can give you more pointers.
-
I think https://github.com/zotero/zotero/releases.atom should do it.
-
If you take those two points that bwiernik mentioned to her, will she at least acknowledge whether those were the flaws she's spotted?
-
If it's all in one cell, the most likely scenario is excel's infuriating decision to make the separator for comma separated values import locale dependent and not prompt the user about this (as libreoffice does) - it may be expecting semicolons for …

https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-collection-tracker/releases doesn't automatically generate a debug report (although it probably could). I don't know what the debug ID does more then send off the current debug log -- if that's what it does, then…
-
Right, that makes sense.
-
That is correct, and BBT normalizes the date that it puts there - styles should be able to pick it up correctly and only display the year if that's appropriate for the style. If BBT can't normalize the date for biblatex export, it will put the uncha…

Oh, like that, I interpreted translator differently. Can't that be done using the cheater syntax?

Are you trying to import something, export something, or trying to make a bibliography from items that are already in your library?
-
My collection for my masters thesis has 3000 items -- not judging, just always funny to see academic packrats.
-
1) If the collection isn't static (which is likely for a lit review), and if you want to be able to cite the same items later, I could see why you'd want to have the metadata with the item rather than having to update the CSV as new items come in. Y…

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/retorquere/zotero-jurism-ppa/master/install-zotero.py will download Zotero and create the desktop file for you.
-
(the potential benefit of the plugin would be that @AucMGris wouldn't have to reproduce this, as the log would just be available when it happened)
-
@AucMGris I'd prefer to know if @dstillman thinks it's useful -- every plugin installed increases the complexity of what the Zotero crew has to analyse. The plugin will turn on debug logging, save the log every 10 minutes (interval is configurable) …

Another option is to import both and use the Zotero duplicate merging feature, but if it's feasible to merge beforehand, that's going to be more convenient than clicking through 6000 items (says the TeX-head who sees all problems as automation probl…
