I agree with @adamsmith that breaking existing documents is a major issue. If you don't want to use BBT, you can also force Zotero to use a citekey of your own choosing by adding Citation Key: bai_heat_2004 to the extra field.

You can't save multiple files from a translator which are not already attachments. If you want notes in separate files, you'll need either post-processing or a zotero plugin.

I'm happy that this has helped you, but I have no idea why it helped. A re-install shouldn't have helped, really. BBT doesn't remove data when it is uninstalled so if uninstalling helped, the problem can only have been the bare fact it was installed…

BBT is not involved with sync, but you could try uninstalling your extensions to make sure it's not one of them (such as BBT) which interferes with Zotero's functioning.

Wait, you mean an exclamation mark next to the circular green sync arrow? That's not BBT. I don't think Group with libraryID 1 does not exist comes from BBT.

I don't know if that's correct or not It's probably not (seeing as how the file field is verbatim) but it's also probably an acceptable compromise when targeting something that doesn't grok utf-8. For bibtex exports, this is going to be a compromise…

The only way I know: auto-export a collection with BBT, and sync it to Overleaf using their Dropbox integration.

I guess that also answers the question on why BBT doesn't import files with things like \"o in it. This is unfortunately not easy to change in BBTs bibtex parser. I'll give it some thought.

That D$\backslash$: is simply wrong BTW. file is a verbatim field so that literally just means D$\backslash$:, not D\:.

Man that took some doing but BBT should now mostly import Sentence Cased bibtex to conform to this. I'll be cutting a new release when #1245 and #1246 are confirmed.

One good reason to suspect BBT is that in CI mode, it removes the stock bibtex translators on start. Not that I'd advocate running BBT in CI mode, but that would explain them missing.
