The only situation where I know this can happen is if BBT was installed in Zotero 4 before upgrading to 5 and BBT was not reinstalled after. In all other circumstances that I've seen the uninstall works, and in the 4-to-5 scenario there's nothing I …

This problem was at least partly caused by a combination of auto-export and having background (worker) export disabled. With auto-exports I highly recommend leaving background exports on (which is the default). With regular foreground exports, there…

But if it happens with BBT, please report it on github on the BBT project!
-
(if they imported no problem it is possible they were imported using the standard Zotero translator because BBT would have tripped up over the \ud command, unless you changed the setting from ignore to something else)
-
5.2.120 will import those 5 invalid types too.
-
I added support for those entry types but didn't test on the whole file. I've added that file to my test suite; there was an invalid command in the bib file (\ud) that BBT tripped over. 5.2.118 will ignore unknown commands by default, and now import…

Do you have a sample for that?
-
BBT will parse all of the above.

There is a documented API, the web API. That doesn't require any knowledge of zotero internals, and it's pretty simple to use.
-
Is there a similar method for uploading a new item via posting something to an appropriate standalone address? you can do pretty much anything that Zotero itself can through the debug bridge. So "yes", but you're going to have to get familiar with t…

As an aside, BibTeX might be the worst possible format to use for something like this, and I say that as an avid bib(la)tex user. Converting Zotero data to/from biblatex takes a metric ton of partially-lossy structure-conversion compromises which wo…

Oh man, you're probably right. So part of my comment explains why the import is as it is, and the parts about export are probably irrelevant to the current question.
-
I believe that if you indicate the language of the items in your .bib file, title case conversion will only apply to the English items. this is the case for BBT. There is a good reason for this, but the reason may be counter intuitive at first. BBT …

The GDPR claim is entirely bogus and they're either banking on their users not being savvy enough to know, or they are themselves not savvy enough to know. In either case, not a group of people you want to trust with the only key to your data. We'v…

https://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/installation/preferences/hidden-preferences/#importcitationkey Read the top of the page for instructions on how to apply it. If that isn't clear, I do indeed prefer an issue being opened on github. My suppor…

For me it just works when I drop it into zotero/translators with the rest of the translators. Does need a restart, but nothing else. I'm on big sur too, but not on the beta, but that would be a strange issue to have on beta. And my other translators…

The earlier sample you gave doesn't sound like live formatting. If you want live formatting, why not just use the zotero word plugin? That gets you the insert and live formatting, and it's the primary way zotero is used.

If you want that, you don't need BBT. Just set the quick-copy translator to scannable cite.
-
I don't speak for zotero in any capacity btw. I'm an independent plugin dev. The zotero devs may well think differently about the matter, this is my personal take.

https://github.com/davepwsmith/zotpick-applescript may get you started. I build the backend for this (bbt), others have written the applescript glue. On that repo you can likely get help to get it running. Whether it is a kludge absolutely does aff…

This may just be a language issue, but your phrasing comes across as accusative, and that makes it less pleasant to work on an answer for you. It is a scrivener issue because they force on other software that it should interpret cmd-y as "attempt t…

It's been a while since I worked on this, but broadly it means that MSA search is pretty good, and that is easily scripted to merge with other structured sources - such as CSV. What interaction/workflow would you prefer to see between PoP, zotero …

Nor is it valid biblatex. The newest BBT will accept @web_page and will treat it like @online. Not the first snafu found on the mendeley bibtex export.
-
I think this can be unpinned now. I actually haven't gotten new reports since it was pinned.
-
If you have the keys already, why not store the public link to the item as you store the key? A redirection server would be trivial, heroku could host it for you for free.
-
The bbl file is simply the bibliography expanded into raw latex after applying the style (and in that sense unstructured) -- publishers will sometimes request the bbl so that the paper can be re-set without fiddling with bib(la)tex because the bbl f…

I've glanced through the amsref docs, but nothing jumps out at me as being a better format in either the sense that it can hold more information (bibtex can hold pretty much anything, it's just that most styles will not find it) or that it has a con…

@ambimorph: the key at the top of the item pane is display-only, and it's there whether the key is pinned or not. @johnmy: it can, although it will require a bit of work.
