The example above has clarified that the Quick Copy cannot produce a different output depending on which PDF file you are currently viewing within a single parent item. Not without a plugin, no. With a plugin, yes. What I'm saying is that where you …

2 is right, but that says nothing about what a plugin can or cannot do. Translators are by default pretty constrained, and do not export top-level attachments. Plugins can break those constraints, even on behalf of otherwise-constrained translators.…
-
If I understand correctly your statement, even a plugin will not be able to achieve the targeted Quick Copy I am looking for. I'm not sure how you took that from my statement. Plugins can do almost anything that Zotero can, including smuggling funct…

So I understand that the libraryID is not used anymore, and irrelevant to produce the links to Zotero? No I think they're still used in links (Ravazzoli et al., 2020, p. 1 (pdf) "DY4CVXND" appears in the "parentItem" of the "attachments", and "i…

this translator will dump everything Zotero gives to translators to a JSON file. That should tell you what information you have to work with.
-
I also think I would've noticed, but there seems to be no other way to explain this. To me it seems there would need to be one though After restarting and having Better BibTex exports work normally again certainly given this. I notice the message "p…

You would have noticed the update because it requires a restart, and last release was 10 days ago.

That is indeed BBT. If you right-click a collection, you get the same option, but it will scan into that collection instead of tagging the items.
-
I'm not sure what scenario you are describing? Zotero doesn't automatically tag items you cite.
-
maybe as a link at the bottom of the links on the left, or as a reminder below any "New Discussion"? That's a question for the Zotero crew (which I'm not a part of; I'm just a volunteer that maintains a plugin and a set of translators). Is there any…

@dcrucio why not use notes instead of the extra field?
-
I use multiple private groups for this.

The infra for the translators changed at Zotero 4.0.27, and not since (which is probably not technically right, because we got async importers now). The legacy pre-4.0.27 format is still supported, but there really isn't any benefit in targeting it.…
-
Someone else will have to fill in the why, but the pragmatic answer to your question is "4.0.27". That gets you the new translation infrastructure rather than the legacy infrastructure. I can't fault your for curiosity, but I find the combination …

Now I'm not sure what you mean. In what sense do you need "the" version of "the" Zotero translator? There are at current count 682 translators offered by Zotero itself and then there are 3rd party translators like mine. Can you first describe what …

That question just sets the default, and TBH that default just happens to be my personal preference, nothing more. You can change it to a much more elaborate formula if you want at any later point.
-
I think the translator versions track differently than the client version. I have all mine set to 4.0.27

(I know the error message not very informative, but I cannot change that)

I cannot access Debug ID logs, just BBT Debug log IDs. Please open an issue on github.

And don't forget to turn sync back on when done.

You can add fields in a BBT postscript. WRT your questions: shared libraries have a group ID and a libraryID, you can convert one into another locally deterministically. All users of a shared library see the same groupID, but the corresponding lib…

I've done similar work before. I could take a look.

This is standard functionality In Better BibTeX

Sorry -- only regular items have citekeys
-
Ah, I see what you mean — so you're patching that call for zotero://select too Correct. When I fix the parent-item thing I can see if we can give you anything better there. I'll hold off on this then until that time. Thanks.

if the key is for a regular item. Only regular items have keys, so this "if" is always true,
-
What I meant to say above is that I cannot see what the URL is before the @, as that is not passed to parseLibraryKey(/Hash); only the ID is. I do not know whether the user is trying to open the item itself or its best attachment, or even whether pa…

I already patch parseLibraryKey(/Hash), what I could do there is add a feature that if you request something like zotero://open-pdf/library/items/@citekey{ "attachment": "best" }, it would return the first result from getBestAttachments. I can't see…
