Start by changing to a different citation style and back again. That should fix this issue. If not, can you describe exactly what you’re seeing?
-
You are mistaken about the APA manual guidelines for the a, b, c, d letters. They are determined by the order of the items in the references list, not the order of appearance in the document. The reference list is sorted alphabetically by authors, t…

Not a stupid mistake at all! That’s definitely a tricky typography issue and not something most folks would pick up on.
-
No, groups can only use Zotero storage
-
Skipping those sounds good. One Edge case that comes to mind is if software manuals are stored as a report
-
Set up syncing in the Zotero desktop app: https://Zotero.org/support/sync
-
Specifically, does it have “Version:” ? Put the publisher version information in Edition
-
Can you give an example of two items that weren’t sorting correctly ?
-
First try clicking the Refresh button in the Zotero tab in Word. That will likely remove the item from the references list. If it is still there after refreshing, go to the part of the document where the missing reference should be based on its nu…

And in particular be sure to use the archival url (with oldid in it) as the URL in Zotero
-
This is done by the citation processor (including citeproc-js) when formatting citations. Try making a citation using APA style and see the end result
-
This is not something that can currently be automated in CSL. My recommendation (as someone with many publications in APA journals where I’ve done this) is to ignore the strict rule from the APA manual and just put the abbreviation as the author and…

Just to say it again folks, it is absolutely correct APA to add first initials to disambiguate authors with the same last name
-
You should change these items to Report in Zotero and put that information in the Report Type and Number fields
-
Also if the 1 has an underline, check it “keep citations updated” is checked in the Document Preferences window in the Zotero tab in Word
-
Came in 6.0.24 https://www.zotero.org/support/changelog
-
APA style does not include the URL for items in the citation. The CSL style is behaving according to the manual guidelines (with the modification to use footnotes, which the manual does not use).
-
Series information is not ever cited for books in APA 7. This is a change from APA ) where series was occasionally included.
-
Use the footnote feature in your word processor—this doesn’t need to involve Zotero

IEEE style has a separate format for webpages/blogs vs other types of items (eg, reports, periodical articles) that are incidentally accessed online. The different formatting of access dates is correct style. See lines 204-225 here https://github.…

You can add tags around a name in your Zotero data to bold that name. I keep a separate group library for my CV that has these and other types of annotations on the items that show up in the rendered references
-
In Zotero settings, in the Advanced pane, set your Language to English (U.K.). Otherwise, I recommend entering all dates in yyyy-mm-dd format
-
You are incorrect. APA style has a comma after et al before the year
-
The CSL variable for the Rights field is “license”
-
That’s not possible. CSL cannot modify output based on field contents. My suggestion is to not show accessed dates when the item has a publication/issued date.

@dstillman Could > be added as one of the recognized markdown shortcuts in the note editor. I am finding myself frequently typing > expecting it to be converted to blockquote

Check out Reports. Select all the items you want to include, right click, and choose Create Report.

This is correct formatting for Chicago (full note) and similar styles. The second format appears when you have cited the same source immediately prior (where ibid would have been used previously). If you want to use the third format always, use Ch…

Yes, coloring isn’t required by the style. When the journal typesets the PDF, they embed a link to the DOI in the journal title—that’s why the text is blue. Notice that they don’t do that in the webpage version of the article. This isn’t something y…

1) adding other creator types is planned. For now, you can enter editor in the Extra field like this to have them appear in citations: Editor: Smith || John A. 2) CSL styles don’t have a notion of multiple publishers. Like you say, you should ente…
