Thanks, kithairon! Let me know if you have a pdf that you think is worse compared to before and I can check it out. MILKLIMuser, it's hard to say anything without more information. Do you "Attach stored copy of file(s)" or use a "custom location" …

Beta test: Here is an updated version of the beta with some additional fixes and two additional changes. First, the extraction now runs in the background so that you can continue to use Zotero while zotfile is extracting annotations. Second, this ve…

kithairon, thanks for the report. That was exactly what I was looking for. The underline issue is fixed now as well as another small problem. The link above refers to the updated beta now.

Beta test: The next zotfile version includes some improvements for the extraction of annotations. I updated the extraction code to the most recent pdf.js version and made some performance improvements. It should now work with more pdfs and run about…

Now it should finally work! Thanks to aurimasv for helping out! bwiernik, set the 'openPdfWin' setting back to "" and try out the current development version on github. Please report back with your windows version and the pdf viewer.

That's too bad. I was hoping that it works now but my Windows access is very limited. You can set the setting to something like 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe' but the idea is that zotfile finds the path itself. If s…

Go to annotation in pdf With two recent changes in Zotero (see this and https://github.com/zotero/zotero/pull/450 pull request), the zotfile feature Go to annotation in pdf is going to be much more useful! Currently, the changes are part of the Zo…

Philipp Rommel, I will make a separate post about this in a second. krcrouse and Olib170, you are right about that and it's a bug but I think unrelated to Olib170 request and the proposed behavior doesn't really make sense. What if I have two atta…

No, that is not planned but a user contribution would be welcome.

Zotfile 3.1 is now under review with a some additional features and some bug fixes. At the same time, the zotfile website had to move from it's previous home to a new location. It's now available at www.zotfile.com and hosted by github pages so that…

aurimas, pdf.js doesn't support the extraction of annotation itself so the version included in zotfile is modified. updateMarkup is one of the function I added. Others are charInAnnot and makeCharDims (I think they are the important once). The other…

yourwelcome, your problem is solved in the current development version. I also posted on your original thread

The problem was recently fixed in pdf.js and I have adopted the same fix to the development version of zotfile. With this fix, the annotation are extracted correctly! So submitting a tickets for pdf.js worked great in this case. Thanks aurimas!

I have added a github issue but I don't have plans to do something about it right now. I thought about using file size for a moment but might also be problematic.
-
Edit: okay, thanks! Forget the message I just posted... I will still think about a possible solution. Not sure whether I will come up with something though.
-
aferreira, thanks for the report. I just put a slightly changed test version on github that shows an additional info window when you get files from the tablet. Actually there are other additional info window but the one relevant for this issue has t…

@matt0410 - Your problem doesn't seem to be related to the extraction of annotations. Can you check whether there is an error message? @laurence.doering - There hasn't been any progress on that front. Actually, I closed the issue because it's not …

leehach, I have added a new wildcard (%S) for institution and also changed %w. It's going to be part of the next version.
-
That's good to hear but there isn't much you can do right now. It's something I am going to look at when I get back to the extraction of annotations but that might take a while. So don't expect a quick solution in the current version of zotfile. Tha…
-
Just to be clear: Whether the extraction works or not only depends on your zotfile version, which comes packaged with a modified pdf.js version (the pdf.js version in firefox is irrelevant). So rolling back pdf.js doesn't make any sense. You can ins…

Thanks for posting this. It's a good case. pdf.js based extraction hangs for me too. poppler works (below is the extracted text from poppler). Note that the modified version of pdf.js, which is included in zotfile, is not always up to date. Actual…

The current development version on github implements that at least for the 'watch folder' stuff. So when you see the pop-up 'New file found. click here to add to zotero', it even works when no item is selected and automatically tries to create an it…

This is now mapped correctly and will be in the next release. But I am not how long it takes until I submit it to mozilla. You can already get it on github.
-
amcmillan, can you upload an example pdf somewhere? I won't have much time to look at it but maybe it's something easy. You can also open an issue on github with a concrete example (like in you post with copied text, extracted text, and 1-page pdf t…

Glad that you like it! Can you send the error message from the console? Here are instructions: http://www.jlegewie.com/zotfile.html#bug

I have put a new version on mozilla that should fix this issue (now under review). It's not really satisfying though because I still don't know the reason and there might be a slightly more serious bug that creates the problem. So if anyone still ha…

@scottcampbell and johnhill, the pdf format is very complex and some files will always make problems. On Mac OS, you can try the poppler based extraction, which might work. You can upload an example file somewhere and I can see whether it works. If …

I will try to fix it tomorrow. Can anyone report whether there is an error message in the console after startup before manually changing extensions.zotfile.version (or after changing manually changing it back)?
-
It would still be good to have the info? Which FF version and what was it before you changed it manually?
-
What is your FF version, OS and can you check about:config for the preferences 'extensions.zotfile.version' and 'extensions.zotfile.zotfile3update'? I need that information from both of you. rahulm82, you can upload a pdf somewhere that used to wor…
