Loss of communication between word and Zotero

When I try to use Zotero in word 2008 I get the error message: " Word could not communicate with Zotero. "

I have
Firefox 5.0.1
Zotero 2.1.8
Zotero Macword integration 3.1.5
Pythonext 110710
Mac 10.6.7
Word 2008 12.2.9

I read the forum for solutions but nothing seem to work for me.
It used to work in the past but it has been a few weeks since I last used Zotero so I don't know if it's because of some update I did.
I don't have admin rights but if I understand it right the only files being installed by the firefox extension to support word are the one in /Users/*/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Word Script Menu Items
I have tried to install again Zotero, the plugin for word, start firefox again, word, use old version of firefox without any success.
Not sure how relevant it is but if I delete this Zotero folder and I open the firefox extension it would still tell me that the component are installed.
Is there something I could/should delete and try to reinstall everything?
  • it's unclear from your post if you have tried this:

Ok then I did do that without success.
And it says installation successful every time.

Provide a report ID after re-triggering the error.
  • Ok I think that would be 1117472272
  • There's no error in that report. Re-trigger the error and try again.
  • Well I cannot do it. There is nothing else written in the report, I just get a message by word that it cannot find zotero but no errors in zotero.

Hmm, try opening /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and typing (or copying and pasting)

    ls -lad ~/.zotero* /Users/Shared/.zotero*
Press return and paste the output here.
  • ls -lad ~/.zotero* /Users/Shared/.zotero*
ls: /Users/Shared/.zotero*: No such file or directory

stars are edit to hide personal info (sorry it must be obvious)

So I guess there is something missing there, no idea how I access this part of the files, could be protected from me.
  • Can you try installing the MacWord Integration Trunk XPI and see if it works? You will want to install the next release of the Word for Mac plug-in manually when it comes out.
  • Yes it worked, thanks a lot.
