APA Bibliography for URL with n.d. adds extra period

[New user] When citing a website, I get what I expect in the text:

(“University of Delaware: DRC-Disaster Research Center,” n.d.)

but I see this in the bibliography:

University of Delaware: DRC-Disaster Research Center. (n.d.). . Retrieved July 23, 2011, from http://www.udel.edu/DRC/

Note the extraneous period between "(n.d.)." and "Retrieved"

HOWEVER: when I cite something else with no date, such as:

(Phillips, n.d.) what I see in the biblio. is the following:

Phillips, B. (n.d.). Disaster recovery. Boca Raton: CRC Press. with NO extra period so the problem seems to be limited to URLs?

Also, I am new at APA, but is the colon after the City: Publisher correct? I probably missed that detail when 'learning' APA.

Thanks, Eugene

For a webpage item, with data similar to your first example, I get this as bibliography output in the APA style:
    Doe Inc. (n.d.). Retrieved June 1, 1965, from http://example.com/
What type do you have set on the Delaware item?

(Edit: sorry, I see you indicated it's a web page in your post.)
  • Can anyone reproduce this?
  • I fixed this on the repository recently. Update the APA style by re-installing from the Zotero repository and it should work correctly. Let us know if that's not the case and I'll take another look.
  • Adam Smith & FBennett,

Thank you for your advice. How do I find the "Zotero repository?" was going to be my original question, but then I found it, hidden as it is, in the Developer's section. (not being a developer, I would not normally look there, but as it wasn't in "Documentation" I looked elsewhere.

Maybe some more explicit links for we, the uninitiated?

    Thanks again,
    Eugene Rothman
  • It's the first hit when you google [zotero repository] or [zotero styles] and there is a link to it from the cite section of the Zotero preferences as well as, I believe, from the word processor plugin, i.e. in most scenarios where you interact with Zotero styles.
It's also not in any developer's section - just to make sure, we're talking about
    www.zotero.org/styles
I guess I could have included a link in my post, but most people looking for citation style related issues are aware of it so it didn't occur to me.
  • Also, when you search the Zotero documentation for [zotero repository] you get this:
    http://www.zotero.org/search/#documentation/zotero%20repository
the first hit of which describes the repository and includes a link. So I really can't see how we can make this much easier to find.
  • No, you are correct... I just looked at the menus, rather that running a search. Sorry.
But, where I did find it was here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles
Halfway down the page there was a like to the repository.

No worries, though.... all roads lead to styles I guess.
