Style request: Journal of Wildlife Management

It would really be helpful to have the citation style of the Journal of Wildlife Management for all biologists out there. It is similar to the journal of immunology citation style that is already offered by zotero. The differences are: The journal article title is not in all capital letter, the journal name is not italicized, the pages are denoted 53: 23-56, and the citation in the actual paper should be author, date. Thanks!
  • could you list the differences with examples and find a link to a style guide?
  • Here is a link to the style guide of the Journal of Wildlife Managment:

    http://joomla.wildlife.org/documents/Manuscript_Guidelines_2008.pdf

The literature cited examples are on pages 36-38.

Here is an example of the Journal of Wildlife Management style (and below is an example of the Journal of Immunology;in contrast) (Note: Lines after the first line are indented, Journal article is not in all capts, journal name is not italicized, and page number includes the volume)

    Schroeder, M. A., C. L. Aldridge, A. D. Apa, J. R. Bohne, C. E. Braun, S. D. Bunnell,
    J. W. Connelly, P. A. Deibert, S. C. Gardner, M. A. Hilliard, G. D. Kobriger,
    S. M. McAdam, C. W. McCarthy, J. J. McCarthy, D. L. Mitchell,
    E. V. Rickerson, and S. J. Stiver. 2004. Distribution of Sage-grouse
in North America. Condor 53:106: 363.

Here is an example of the Journal of Immunology style: (note name of article is capital, journal name is italicized, and pages don't include the volume of the journal)

    Schroeder, M. A., C. L. Aldridge, A. D. Apa, J. R. Bohne, C. E. Braun, S. D. Bunnell, J. W. Connelly, P. A. Deibert, S. C. Gardner, M. A. Hilliard, G. D. Kobriger, S. M. McAdam, C. W. In text citation for the Journal of Wildlife Management should be (Shroeder et al 2004)

    Does this help? Thanks!
  • The indents didn't show up for the example, sorry about that
  • In text citation (Shroeder et al. 2004)
  • ok thanks. Will take a while, though, if I'm going to do it at least.
  • Sweet! Thanks you very much!
  • it's up - should show up in the repository any time - let me know if there are any problems.
  • Thank you Adam! I will look for it!

  • Thanks for adding the citation style for the Journal of Wildlife Management!

I had a couple problems after I installed it. When I updated my manuscript document to follow this style, the literature cited section was not in alphabetical order and instead is in the order that the citations appeared in the text.

In addition, there should not be a space before the first page number (e.g., it should be Science 259:354-359, rather than Science 259: 354-359).

    Thanks!
  • thanks - the fixes are uploaded and will show up in the next 30mins. Update your style by re-installing from the repository.
  • Hi Adam - thanks for your help. I updated the style, but when I reinserted the bibliography, it said that the current bibliographic style does not define a bibliography and I could not insert it.
  • The style is OK & works for me as installed from the repo. Try re-installing it and try switching to a different style and back.
If all else fails you may have to reset your styles, but please hold off on doing that.
  • Okay - I got the bib to work correctly - thanks! I noticed another issue, though (sorry! not trying to be a pain). For seemingly arbitrary citations, the first initials of authors are included in the text (which shouldn't be included) - some are for journal articles, some for books, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency based on the author and citation information in Zotero (I checked several examples). This does not happen if I have the citation style set to say, Ecology. I switched back and forth between JWM and Ecology several times and the initials disappeared with Ecology and reappeared with JWM.
  • Hi Adam. I too am looking for this style type. I clicked on the install link above, but I get an error saying style not found. Can you help?

    Thanks
  • The style is on the repository.
