Dta lost

I have minimal computer skills. My computer has just been upgraded. When I started zotero and syncd only 2 out of hundreds of entries were there.
Have I lost 2 years work?
How do I get it back?
  • 1. Did the person who upgraded your computer keep a backup copy of your documents and settings? Your Zotero library would be in there. Getting the library back would be a matter of pointing Zotero to the right location. See http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data

    2. Did you regularly sync prior to the upgrade? If so, all your items should be on the server and syncing should bring them all back. If not, there is no way for the server to know what your recent library looked like and you'll have to rely on a backup (see #1).
  • Thanks. I kept a backup, but I don't know which bit I need to let me restore zotero, and yes, I syncd regularly - almost obsessively
  • Check out the page I linked to. It is all explained there.
  • Thanks - but thanks to my wonderful wife I don't need it now. She suggested the "microsoft solution" - we shut down, unplugged, had a coffee and went back - and yes, all was well!
