Citation order incorrect mBio / ASM

When I change the citation style preferences for a document from "Nature Journal" to "mBio" or "American Society for Microbiology", the order of the citations changes from citation-sequence to alphabetical by first author's last name. Unfortunately, the journal requires citation-sequence ordering.

I'm running things on a mac with OS 10.5.8, Firefox 3.6.19, Zotero 2.1.8, Zotero MacWord Integration 3.1.3 and PythonExt 110620 if that makes a difference.

I would appreciate any advice on how I can fix this aside of "the old fashioned way".

Thanks,
Chris
  • Contrary to what we thought this doesn't appear to be unified for all ASM journals - Applied and Environmental Microbiology (e.g.) does indeed want this alphabetical, but mBio doesn't. I'll fix this sometime this week on the repository, if you need it before then, look at these general instructions:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step
and then remove the entire four lines starting with <sort> and ending with </sort> from the style.
You'd do me a favor if you could check this for the remaining ASM journals.
  • I think mBio is the odd one out. The instructions (http://mbio.asm.org/site/misc/journal-ita_org.xhtml#02) say "mBio follows ASM style for reference entries", so apparently only the sorting differs.
  • Try reinstalling mBio from the style repository. It should now use citation-sequence ordering in the bibliography.
  • Works like a charm, thank you! I checked the other ASM journals and you're right, all the rest require an alphabetical bibliography.
