Exporting Bibtex on Mac does not append .bib when selecting existing file

When I go to export my citations in bibtex I click <gear> export library and then I find the existing file I want to update. When I click it (it's name could be something.bib) the file chooser will only change the save name from "My Library.bib" to "something". When I save it it will save as "something" and not "something.bib"

This works fine on the linux. When I select something.bib it changes "My Library.bib" to "something.bib".

    I can confirm this. It is quite frustrating to always type the .bib filename suffix manually.

    It looks like this is a bug in the Mozilla file picker, since if I am understanding it correctly the same issue is present with File->Save Page As. We could force-append an extension if none is provided, but someone should file a bug over at bugzilla if one does not already exist.

    I have the problem the other way around. When I try to import an .bib file, all files appear grayed in the import file browser and I can't select my .bib file

    kulnor, this is another Firefox bug. You can go to about:config, search for filepicker.lastTypeIndex, right click the entry, and select reset to fix it. Also, did you ever have a Firefox beta build installed?
