Report ID: 935528917

I have been getting the following error message when my computer tries to sync:

[JavaScript Error: "uncaught exception: '18' is not a valid field for type 13"]

[JavaScript Error: "'18' is not a valid field for type 13" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 891}]

Please let me know if you need any more information. Thanks.
  • This is a known issue.

If you don't have any changes on your home computer, the easiest thing to do is to perform a Restore from Zotero Server from the Sync->Reset pane of the Zotero preferences.

If you do have local changes, provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that produces the error.
  • And even if you do intend to do a Restore from Zotero Server, a Debug ID may be helpful as we try to fix this.
  • I'm also having this problem. Debug ID D385501916.
  • Sorry for the delay. my Debug ID is D2056766041
  • jasonaboyd and 6500jmk4: If you're still getting this error, could you upload your database to the DB Repair Tool and e-mail the Upload ID the tool provides to support@zot....org, with a link to this thread? Don't post the Upload ID here. You can ignore the download link the tool provides for now, since it probably won't fix your error.

Actually, before you do that try installing the latest 2.1 Branch dev XPI, which may fix this. The 2.1 Branch dev XPI should be safe to use, but you should still make sure you have a backup of your Zotero data directory for good measure.

If the sync goes through successfully, you can (and should) switch back to 2.1.8 from the home page.
  • Thanks. Branch XPI not fixing the problem. Will try DB Repair Tool.
  • Are you sure you're getting the same error? Or are you getting a different error?
  • If it's a different error, try updating to the latest branch build (r9957 or higher).
  • It seems to be the same error:

[JavaScript Error: "'18' is not a valid field for type 13" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 891}]

    Thanks.
  • Can you provide another Report ID?
  • Sure, here it is: 453999592
  • You're still running 2.1.8, not the 2.1 Branch dev XPI.
  • Right, I switched back when it didn't work. I'll do it again, run a report, and resend it to you.
  • I just got a new MacBook, updated it to Lion, updated Firefox, and everything works again now that I started using the 2.1 Branch dev XPI. Thanks for your help on this.
  • Thanks. The 2.1 Branch dev XPI appears to have resolved the issue for me.
