Trouble with Early English Books Online

Hovering the cursor over the Zotero icon in the Firefox bar says: Save to Zotero (Early English Books Online) but I get an error msg: "could not save item" when I click it.

    Thanks for bringing this up.
(Edit: see Bionatsci's link below for the ticket)
  • Is this issue resolved yet? I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and Zotero 2.1.7. I am not able to save the EEBO search results into the database. Thanks.
  • Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/Early English Books Online.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.
  • I have replaced the translator file "Early English Books Online.js" from the translators directory but the message is still the same. I have check to make sure the .js file has the version you have given me. I have tried to log out and log back into EEBO. I have also tried to restart Firefox, remove the tab and restart a tab for EEBO, etc.

The message is still "Could Not Save Item." How else can I help you to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks.
  • provide a link to something that isn't working - the item above works for me with the new translator.
  • The search results URL is like this:

    http://0-eebo.chadwyck.com.newlibrary.wts.edu/search?action=GOTO&SOMQUERY=1&SIZE=10&RETRIEVEFROM=41&FILE=../session/1308022279_26294&SOURCE=var_spell.cfg&DISPLAY=AUTHOR&SEARCHSCREEN=CITATIONS&ECCO=N

I am accessing EEBO "Off Campus Access" through a link provided on my school's web page here:

    http://www.wts.edu/library/databases.html

Clicking the EEBO link will redirect me to:

    http://0-eebo.chadwyck.com.newlibrary.wts.edu/home
  • but individual pages work for you?
I can confirm that search results don't.
  • That's right. I didn't notice this before. I was only trying to record the citation from the search results.

    Individual item does work.
  • Ok-- I hadn't tested search results. Download and install from the address above again and they too should start working.
  • I have tried miniversion 2.1 but it is still the same: individual item works, search results do not.
