code instead of text

Hey

I'm an idiot with computers, so be patient with my probably studpid question.

My references now look like this:

{ ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM
{“citationID”:”13n83nu4t8”,”citationItems”:[“uri”[http://zotero.org/users/131095/items/E8UUU8HP”]}]} }

when the same one should look like this (when I first cut&pasted the reference in here, it came out right...):

Henry Mayhew and George Cruikshank, 1851: Or, The Adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Sandboys and Family, Who Came Up To London to “Enjoy Themselves” and To See the Great Exhibition (London: David Bogue, 1851).

What can I do to fix this?
  • Right click on the code and choose "toggle field codes"

Googling the following will give you more information on what the codes are

    word "field codes"
  • Thanks!

How do I right-click on my MacBook? Or is there another way?
  • If your MacBook is a fairly recent model, you can place two fingers on the touchpad and then press the touchpad. Alternatively, you can press the CMD key and click.
  • OK..."toggle field codes" is not one of the alternatives...
  • Can't I do this from the zotero tab itself?
  • which word versio do you have?
  • Word 2008 for Mac, Version 12.2.9
  • Also, you can try alt + fn + f9
  • That worked.

I was worried about my PhD there for a minute... thanks for your help.
