Zotero won't add PDFs from JSTOR, works with other sites
I'm trying to help someone use Zotero. On their computer, I've been importing items from JSTOR using the icon in the address bar, but Zotero won't download and attach the PDF from the article.
Here is what I've tried:
* The "automatically attach PDFs" option is properly selected.
* Zotero's automatic proxy is set up properly to go through my school's proxy for JSTOR and other sites.
* Before importing items from JSTOR, I've downloaded a JSTOR PDF manually, so that I have agreed to their terms.
* I've tried importing from a variety of JSTOR pages: search results, browsing, individual article views. I've also tried a variety of journals.
* I've manually updated the Zotero translators. I've also reset all the translators.
This worked last weekend when the person had Firefox 3.x plus Zotero 2.1 installed. The person installed Firefox 4.0.1 and upgrading to Zotero 2.1.7 over the weekend. I suppose that could be a source of the problem, but I've checked all the settings in Firefox, especially security settings, and there doesn't seem to be anything amiss.
The really suprising thing is that on my own computer, with the same versions of Zotero, Firefox, and Mac OS, going through the same Brandeis proxy, it works fine, while it doesn't work on this other person's computer.
I've submitted error report ID 967385061. I've looked at the errors myself, and they all seem to be of this type:
[JavaScript Error: "no element found" {file: "http://www.jstor.org.resources.library.brandeis.edu/rx?uid=790574861987650&st=1307464042600&pn=http://www.jstor.org.resources.library.brandeis.edu/stable/27640456?&Search=yes&searchText=tweed&searchText=thomas&list=hide&searchUri=%252Faction%252FdoBasicSearch%253FQuery%253Dthomas%252Btweed%2526acc%253Don%2526wc%253Don&prevSearch=&item=1&ttl=4036&returnArticleService=showFullText&ets=BodyTagTiming:1522,load:2497" line: 1}]

Thanks for your help. I picked the items to import almost at random, so I don't think it would be the issue you suggest. But here are some of the JSTOR items that worked on my computer but not on the person's I was helping.
