Zotero stopped working - Item[termvar] unidentified

Hi,

Zotero suddenly stopped inserting citations and does not update the bibliography. I am getting the error message "Trouble updating the document - Item[termvar] unidentified". Everything works fine in a new word-docx and elimination of recent citations and/or bibliography does not help.

Could this be an error with my devStyle, as described in: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/17180/problems-exporting-bibligraphy-and-others/? And if it is - where do I start trying to fix this?

One week ago I experienced a similar error and had to reinsert all citations manually. I would be so relieved, if I knew how to fix this, since my deadline is running towards me.

Thank you in advance for any hint and thank you for providing zotero!

  • It could be - have you validated your style?
  • Hi Adam,

thank you for the instant reply - yes I did and just checked again to be sure:

"The document validates according to the specified schema(s) and to additional constraints checked by the validator."

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks again

  • ...although wait - if I donĀ“t check "Be lax about HTTP Content-Type" it says: IO Error: Non-XML Content-Type: text/plain.
  • no, that's normal, it's almost certainly not your style then.
I'd suggest making a back-up copy of your document and database and installing the branch xpi
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/svn_and_trac_access#zotero_client_dev_xpis
it includes several processor fixes and might just take care of this.
You can/should revert to the regular Zotero once 2.1.7 comes out, but at this point the branch isn't particularly risky to install.
  • thank you so much, it worked like a charm! You just made my day :)
  • cool - remember that you will have to manually revert to zotero 2.1.7 once it comes out (i.e. install it from the homepage) - you don't want to permanently work with the branch.
  • OK, I`ll do that.
