Problems importing Endnote X into Zotero

Is this possible? We have tried a variety of things but always get "this format is not compatible with Zotero" I have about a thousand entries in Endnote which I need to upload into Zotero.

Any work-around like importing into RefWorks from Endnote and then exporting from RefWorks into Zotero?

Please help! Thanks.
  • Addendum: I did download the RIS plug in from Endnote web but having trouble still.
  • what exactly is "a variety of things"?
    Have you tried this?
    http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/importing_records_from_endnote
If so and it doesn't work split up your RIS file into smaller bits to see if this is a general problem or if it only concerns some entries.
  • Basically, the version of Endnote that I am trying to transfer is Endnote X and I no longer have the original version of these Endnote documents, and thus, these are a "converted copy" and so when I click 'export' and then go to select the RIS version under 'text only' there is no RIS option, and so, I cannot export it.
  • You should consult Endnote's support channels, as it sounds like you do not yet know how to export an RIS file from their software.

(As far as I know, you can save converted libraries to new endnote libraries and, if you have the RIS export provider installed properly, you will be able to generate the needed output. But I don't have Endnote & their forums will be more likely to help you with their software.)
