bug: files failing to import are not released

Hi,
New to Zotero. I was trying to figure out how to import an endnote library, when I tried to import a file that is not recognize zotero. it gave me a pop-up saying the file is not recognized. After clicking through it though, the file is not released from use by zotero, meaning I cannot delete it or overwrite it until I close zotero standalone.

btw. I do not see any other place to submit bugs, so... that's why I'm writing it here.
  • You're in the right place for an initial bug report. This seems possible-- there might be some file handling code in Firefox that Standalone doesn't get for free and will need to implement separately.

    Can you replicate this?

What operating system are you using?
  • Yup. Easily replicated.
Just make a random text file and try it. I get the pop-up "The selected file is not in a supported format" <ok><View Supported Formats...>

Trying to delete the file or rename it results in the "file in use" windows pop-up.

Additionally, "View Supported Formats..." does nothing for me but close the pop-up. I am using Chrome.

    Windows XP 32-bit SP3
  • The "View supported formats" thing is a known issue with Standalone-- pretty much everything that should open a browser fails to do so.

The rest is something the core devs will need to look into-- hopefully it'll be resolved soon. Standalone is long overdue for a second alpha, and maybe this can be fixed by then.
