Unbelievable - Zotero wont highlight search results

Hi I 'searching within notes' from here:

Zotero does not support highlighting search terms within a note, but you can right click on a note, select “Generate Report from Selected Item” and the note text will load in the current Firefox tab. From there, you can use the standard Firefox text search tools. For details, see reports.


Every notebook I have used has highlight seach feature which is an absolute minimum requirement. What is the use of a search result if it only shows the respective Note, not the item?
EG we have a list of phone numbers within a Note - If I search for "amy then amy is found in Phone note, but where???
Apart from that, Zotero looks great, but useless to many if we cant easily find the item we want instantly on search.

    I'd hazard to guess that most notes are short & this is not much of an issue. It is a technical issue TinyMCE integration in Zotero. There is a TinyMCE search and replace plugin, but I don't know if that is really any more elegant a solution.

    An alternative work around is to hit the html button & run a ctrl-f find there.

    Thanks your reply. There may be several workarounds, but the bottom line is that a core component of zotero, TinyMCE is limiting its functionality, and since its a core component, unless TinyMCE is modified, then its unlikely that a functional ITEM search function will be provided.
    If searching is not critical, then others will find this addon very useful, but for me, I will remove it due to this limited functionality.
