Narrowest possible collection pane in Tab Mode?

I've been using Zotero in part as an in-browser notepad. It's on a split screen, via the Tile Tabs extension to Firefox. Looking to reclaim some of the screen space required for the collection tree, but the toolbar forces that pane to a certain minimum width. As you can see, it's not bad at all, but not optimal.

Can anyone suggest a backdoor modification to the button bar, or an option in about:config to permit a narrower column?

    That's the items pane, not the collections pane.

    Thanks, Dan; I stand corrected. For frequently-accessed notes and reference, it would be handy to be able to shrink the Items pane to thumbnail width, just wide enough to navigate. The collections pane can already be reduced to that width, or hidden entirely.
