Citing NCES quick stats in APA

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to capture in zoteo and cite a table you create using NCES's datalab? Here's the website: http://nces.ed.gov/datalab/

Once you generate a chart it pops out with the following at the bottom:
U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, NPSAS:2008 Undergraduate Students

1) How is that information supposed to look in APA format?

2) Is there a zotero item that will generate it, or do I need to manually add it to the bibliography each time?

Thanks!
  • you'll need to find out 1) yourself and then we can tell you 2)
  • Here's my best guess for question 1.

U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. (2008). Quickstats [Chart showing graduation rates of students by 2002-2003 GPA]. NPSAS:2008 Undergraduate Students. Retrieved from http://nces.ed.gov/datalab/quickstats/createtable.aspx

For anyone else who is struggling, here are the reasons I made this decision:
All references are from the 6th edition of APA:
-My best guess is to treat it as a webpage (which answers question 2).
-Put non-routine information in brackets immediately after the title and any parenthetical information. (6.29)
-Do not italicize the title of a data set (7.08)
  • I would suggest using Report for this (which, in many ways it is - it's just the statistical information from a a report).
Put "Chart showing graduation rates of students by 2002-2003 GPA" in the report type field - it will appear in regular parentheses and not square brackets, though - everything else should be self exploratory.

    Personally, though, I'd use
"Graduation rates of students by 2002-2003 GPA"
as the title, and don't cite quickstats or put it in report series. Put "data chart" or so in the report type field, as per the example for data set here:
    http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/10/
I also don't see what "Undergraduate Students" does there - I'd just forget about that.
