Non-italicize part of the book title

Hi. I'm new to Zotero.
I have a book title that contains the title of another book. I therefore want to non-italicize (i.e. normalize) this "title-within-the-title" part. I use Chicago Manual Style but I would want to make this happen independent of CSL. I've learned that <i>xyz</i> work in fields to italicize, but is there a similar way to normalize part of the field?
Many thanks for your help!
  • Mark it with the italics tags. When the style applies italics to the title as a whole, the inner italics will be removed automatically.

That's the theory if it anyway. Give it a try and lets us know if it works.
  • fbennett, I've already tried that but it didn't work. But thanks anyway.

There may be some misunderstanding. That's not just idle advice; I built this part of the system, and if it's not working, I need your help to assure it's working correctly. Are you willing to provide additional information?
  • Sure, I am happy to provide more information if that helps, since I am pretty desperate to get this working. I am running Zotero on Windows XP and use MS Office 2007 for my work (Zotero is added-on there).
Now, I just tried something interesting: I created the bibliography from that file in an HTML format, and this displayed the title just as I wanted, i.e. with the non-italicized part-title. So it seems that there's a problem when inserting the bibliography in a Word document?
  • I'm pretty sure this will work correctly in the next version. If you need it sooner, try backing up your Zotero database and documents, and installing the Zotero branch XPI, to see if that works better. If you try it, you should reinstall with Zotero 2.1.7 when it becomes available (otherwise, you will continue to receive development updates, which is less stable and probably not what you want).
  • Thanks for the reference to Zotero branch XPI. I might try it out, but I can certainly wait for Zotero 2.1.7 as long as I know that this is something that is going to be taken care of soon.
Very many thanks for your help, fbennett, and I look forward to the new version!
