Syncing attachments imported from Endote

Hello all,

I recently switched from Endnote to Zotero. I used a modified refman template to export my Endnote library with the attached files included. I then edited the resulting text file as described here: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5311/importing-endnote-libaray-including-pdf-attachments//. This worked quite well and I am able to access the pdfs on the computer where I performed this transfer. However, when the PDF files sync to other computers, they incorrectly sync the location of the PDF on that machine rather than syncing the pdf file itself. As a result, I cannot view the PDFs for this library of references on any other machine. Can anyone suggest a workaround to force zotero to sync the PDF itself? Thanks.
  • I should add that I am also experiencing a possibly related reverse problem. PDFs that I attached manually on one machine do not seem to transfer correctly to another; I get an error message that reads "The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero". As a consequence of these issues, the PDF sync feature is effectively not working for me. Any advice? Thanks.
  • Are you sure you have file syncing activated? (Sync preferences)
If so, where exactly do those files sit - provide a sample file-path.
Generally, only files in the Zotero folder sync, linked files don't.
  • Note that the "attached file could not be found"... message would be exactly what you get when you have file syncing de-activated or when it doesn't work correctly.
  • It looks like something did indeed go wrong with the original file sync - I seem to have it fixed and will see if that corrects the problem. Thank you.
