Multiple single field name not showing correctly

Hello,
I have a report with five authors. I am showing their name all in single field and that prints like this in the both bibliography and citation.

Citation:
(Svandís Nína Jónsdóttir, Stefán Hrafn Jónsson and Inga Dóra Sigfúsdóttir and Hera Hallbera Björnsdóttir, , and , Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, 2003)
Bibliography:
Svandís Nína Jónsdóttir, Stefán Hrafn Jónsson and Inga Dóra Sigfúsdóttir and Hera Hallbera Björnsdóttir, , and , Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir. (2003)

I can send my localized APA if needed.
  • This is caused by a bug in the processor, and there is almost certainly no problem with your style. The bug will be fixed in the next release of Zotero (2.1.6).
  • I also noticed now that the same citation, if cited two times it will all the names the second time, not "Svandís Nína Jónsdóttir et.al."
Maybe the same error, but thought better to mention it. :-)
  • Hello, this is almost fixed. A comma is still added before the "and" is added, so in my case this looks like this.
(Svandís Nína Jónsdóttir, Stefán Hrafn Jónsson, Inga Dóra Sigfúsdóttir, Hera Hallbera Björnsdóttir, and Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, 2003).

You see there is comma after Hera Hallbera Björnsdóttir.
  • I think that comma is a style setting - which style are you looking at? The comma before the 'and' in enumerations (commonly referred to as an "Oxford comma" btw.) is required in many styles, including Chicago Manual of Style. It should be easy to change if it's wrong, though.
  • I am using APA, and I think that this is not the style because this is not happening when there are two authors, only three and more.

(Álfhildur Leifsdóttir and Sigríður Arndís Þórðardóttir, 2009)
  • That's expected behavior. Two authors are not an enumeration - this is how commas and and are used in enumeration in most written English - as in:
    You and me.
    You, Dan, and me.

In the official APA the ampersand (&) is used instead of "and", but it follows the same rules. This behavior can be changed using the "delimiter-precedes-last" option for names:
The default is what you see in APA (you can also get this by setting the option to "contextual", using "never" will never put a comma and using "always" will put a comma even for two authors.

  • > commas and and are used in enumeration in most written English - as in:
    > You and me.
    > You, Dan, and me.

This I did not know, but now I have fixed it, with putting author-short delimiter-precedes-last to never. Because it is not like this in Icelandic.

    Thanks
