I need to be able to also cite "minutes" instead of "pages"

Hi everyone,
I am a film studies student and need to cite minutes in films. unfortunately this is not an option in the drop down menu when I insert new citations. Is there any way I can add this to the style I'm using? (or at least a way that I can turn off that it needs to show either page or book or chapter or folio... that way I could put the "min" in the suffix)
Also: I am citing with footnotes and need a bibliography, so my only two options from the general zotero citing styles are the on from the Modern humanities research association, or the chicago manual of style.
I tried to search for this issue but couldn't find anything yet. I have no idea about programming unfortunately.

I'd be very thankful for any help you can give me!
  • could you clarify how using the suffix field doesn't work correctly?
If there is an issue that will likely be easy to fix.
About footnote styles - there aren't a huge amount of those for Zotero - for the most part journals that want footnotes just follow CMoS - but there should be about a dozen overall on the repository - I don't have my computer with me right now, but maybe someone else could get you a list of all the footnoted styles.

I don't think there'll be great enthusiasm for adding minutes as a "locator" (that's the name for the types in the dropdown menu), but we can see.

    thank you for your reply!
The problem with the suffix is, that the styles I use will always put a "p." or "fol." or whatnot in front of the number which is disturbing. Therefore a Suffix is not an option. If I could only turn the locator off somehow that would already help.

It would be really nice if someone could post a few styles that use footnotes and a bibliography - I don't seem to find any in the repository.

I wonder why there is a reluctance towards adding Minutes... I don't know how else I should refer to a specific scene in a picture, it's a little too bad.

    Thanks again!!

About suffix - it doesn't sound like you're using the suffix field: the plugin has three fields: prefix, suffix, and locator. You should only get "p." (or something along those lines) if you use the locator field - the one with the dropdown menu. Moreover, at least for Chicago, if you put "min. 32" or "32 min" into the locator field with page selected you also shouldn't get any "p." If that's not the case for you, provide specific examples.
  • Yes it's true - i haven't tried putting it into the locator field itself and it doesn't work for MHRA but it works for Chicago! Perfect, this really helps a lot, thank you!!
I'm still quite new to Zotero so I'm really sorry for the maybe stupid questions.

I will also make sure to try out the other styles!
Thanks so much, this really helped a lot!!
