Related link to Zotero folder

When I try to create a Related link from a note (the note in my case containing a quote from a reference), the possibility doesn't seem to be available to link to the folder where I have placed a copy of the reference (with attached note/quote). What I would like this feature for is to direct other users to a shared folder where the quote/reference might best be discussed using related quotes/references which they can place there.

    So you'd like for it to be possible to have related items include collections/folders? Not sure how easy this would be to implement, or how the interface would work (since related items are only selected in the middle pane, and collections don't appear in the middle pane).

    Could you accomplish the same thing by putting a standalone note in the collection you're pointing to, and making that a related item?

    And why is it that other users of my group are able to delete folders/collections that I have created as Administrator, so that I have to keep restoring the folders/collections from a backup?

    have you checked what their role is in the members tab of the group settings - regular members should not be able to edit.

    Further to this issue (if it is an issue), could anyone show me in the Zotero code (being a trained computer programmer, but never having worked in that field), where it is made difficult for a Related item to be a Zotero collection/folder, whereas a Standalone Note can be a Related link?

    Thanks for any clues, especially on whether this is an issue.

    ajlyon just said he didn't know whether it was difficult - and I have no idea - he pointed to a GUI issue, which I view as a real problem.

    If it's difficult that's likely because of the data model - a collection is likely to be stored in a very different way from an item such as a note - datawise collections are much more like tags, as one collection can have multiple item and one item can be in multiple collections.
