Upgrade StorageID 41981856 install integration plugin failure

I've updated to the new version, zotero 2.1.5, and tried to install the openoffice integration plugin 3.5a1 but it fails all the time ("Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that OpenOffice.org is closed, and then restart Firefox." - openoffice is closed!). Also manual installation won't work ("could not create Java implementation loader").
Is there a solution to this?
I'm using OpenOffice 3.2.1 on a Mac OS 10.6.5 and Firefox 4
