zotero sync server does not accept password - 1300888540

I'm stuck with setting up syncing, the password field in the preferences dialog is blank, I enter my password, click ok, click the sync icon, get the password not set error, the password field in the preferences dialog is blank...

I have tried restarting Firefox and resetting my password, what next?
  • Similar problem, but every now and again it works.
    Then it deletes my passoword out of the preferences without me
    knowing to have done anything. Where to look? What to do, what
    might have gone/been done wrong?

    Help appreciated - keeps being annoying and not working.

  • Zotero simply uses the Firefox password manager, so it's likely that either your Firefox password database is corrupt or something is interfering with it.

    You can try closing Firefox, moving all signons.* files in your Firefox profile directory to another location, and restarting Firefox.

    You can also try creating a new Firefox profile, installing Zotero into it, and pointing it to your current Zotero data directory as a test.

    You might also try disabling your other Firefox extensions.
