create item from stored file?

Hi,

I used drag and drop to pull a bunch of .pdfs into my library. After running "retrieve metadata for PDf" there are still quite a few that are not properly cataloged. Is it possible to create a new item based on a stored file attachment?

    not for pdfs no - you have to manually create a new item and attach the pdf - a long, long planned feature would have failed retrieve metadata automatially attach the pdf to an empty new item. I don't actually know why this is still not implemented - it wouldn't seem that hard to do and the current situation really is a bit of a nuisance for people with lots of pdfs to import.

    That would really help. Thanks for the feedback!

    My workflow at this point is to create a collection to house all .pdfs that lack metadata, sort them by name, then create new items for data entry. This allows me to avoid having to drag the .pdf a long ways into the new item, as long as I remember to leave off naming the new item until after I drop the .pdf into them.
