MacWord Integration 3.1b2

I've installed Firefox 4 and Zotero 2.1 as wells as the updated adds-on. However, when I start Firefox, I receive the message "Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that Microsoft Word is closed, and then restart Firefox", even though MS Word (2008) is not open, and this is repeated each time I start Firefox. In Zotero itself I have also an error that I've reported (Report ID: 88665418). Any hints?
Best regards
Jean-Paul
  • Actually, I've realized that it could be linked to the fact that I'm still on OSX 10.5.8, somehow I've never switched to 10.6. I'll switch and test again, hopefully it will work then...

  • If it is due to not having 10.6, Firefox 3.6 should still work. Otherwise, it's something else. In the latest available MacWord plugin—3.1—you should receive a proper message if that is the cause.
  • I've got the same problem as JeanPaul, but I am working with OS X 10.6. The message "Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that Microsoft Word is closed, and then restart Firefox." even appears if I open a new window (with Firefox already running).
I have reinstalled both the newest versions of PythonExt and the MacWord plugin several times.

Nevertheless, I can still use Zotero with Word, yet, after the installation of the plugin I had to copy the "Add Bibliography" and "Add Citation"-scripts (which I saved before) back into Word Scripts Folder, as they were deleted while the rest of the items were still there.

  • seodz, this is a different issue. Can you create a report ID?

seodz, you have a file named "Beispielworkflows für Automator" in Documents/Microsoft-Benutzerdaten/Word Script Menu Items/Zotero. I'm not sure how it got there, since Zotero doesn't install anything by this name and Zotero also apparently doesn't have permissions to delete it (which it would if it had created it). Delete it (or delete the Zotero directory in Word Script Menu Items) and the installation should succeed.
  • Simon, thank you so much for your help — it worked!
The folder "Beispielworkflows für Automator" was created by Office 2011 which I used for a while before I switched back to Office 2008, but I don't know why it was put in the Zotero folder.
