Suppressing "Ibid" in Chicago Style (Note with Bibliography)

I have been using the Chicago Manual of Style (Note with Bibliography) for my PhD and it has been working well.

However, my supervisor is telling me that the use of "Ibid" when two successive citations are the same is falling out of favour, with many preferring simply repeat the short form of citation as would occur for non-consecutive repeat citations. I can see the sense in this.

Is there a way to suppress the use of Ibid? I'm assuming it must be possible but will involve some chicanery of editing the citation style. Is that right? And can anyone help me out, as I've never messed with that side of things before?
  • there are variuous Chicago no ibid styles on the repository - does none of them work?

  • Ah, okay. I'd never had to venture beyond the default styles before. Apologies for the dumb question and thanks for the quick response.
