I got the message: "Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again."
I use word 2011 and the newest macbook pro version. I reinstalled firefox and zotero many times during the last 6hours. All the other solutions discussed here, dont work for me. Everything worked fine on my old mac, but since i got the new one, i get this message.
I have no ideas anymore...

    Please provide the version numbers of Zotero, plugin and PythonExt that you have installed. Also, be specific about what you have tried.

    I installed Zotero 2.0.9, Zotero MacWord Integration 3.0b7 and PythonExt 2.6.2

    I tried this one: You might experience this error if you have recently upgraded Zotero MacWord Integration and are running Microsoft Word 2008/2011 for Mac on a non-English language system. Close Word and then, in Firefox, go to Tools→Add-ons→Extensions. Click the “Preferences” button next to “Zotero MacWord Integration” and then click “Reinstall Word Components.”

    And I dont use ZoneAlarm.

    Furthermore, I uninstalled everything, restarted the comuputer and installed everything again including firefox.

    If you install Zotero 2.1rc2 and the new Word plug-in for it, it will probably fix this. Alternatively, try following these instructions.
