Citation style for Journal of Animal Science 2011

First go at this, it generated the correct citation for JAS. Citation style for the Journal of Dairy Science to follow

  • thanks a lot - please see guidelines here
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/submitting_citation_styles
so that we can upload this easily
(not intended as a criticism - that page is very new and not yet linked to from anywhere, so you couldn't have seen it).
  • Thanks Adam.

I did manage to find that (not exactly sure what sequence of links I followed) but I figured I was more or less a “casual coder” as I am generating these CSL as I need them during my down time as a post doc (if there is such as thing for post docs).

I’ll submit it to the style repository if you would like, just thought I’d let you know my thought process.

  • no, github is perfect - I was referring to the general instructions (rights, only lowercase letters in id, - and the github instruction, including the link which should be
https://gist.github.com/864229 and adding the filename as jas.csl
obviously I can do all of this myself, but it turns 30secs of work into 5mins and that sums up as I upload styles for lots of people.
  • Sorry about that, I understand completely. I thought I'd had the rights in there. I was trying to merge two versions of the document together and I missed the rights section.

To clarify, you want the file named as jas.csl and the id section with the in file to be lower case, roman numbers, one hyphen etc. (eg journal of animal science-2011) (I saved the csl in this format, and obviously you can't see that since I cut and paste the file into github). Next CSL will be smoother for ya, promise.
  • thanks -
    filename and id should correspond.
i.e. if the id is 'jas' then filename should be 'jas.csl'
for both id and filename don't use spaces and don't put a year in there - either 'journal-of-animal-science' or 'jas' are great.
On github you can add the filename at the top.
  • and any suggestions on how to improve those instructions are appreciated - they were written by people who've done this quite a bit and we might not have done a good job in all parts.
  • I linked to the submission instructions from the "creating citation styles"-page: http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/submitting_citation_styles?do=backlink
