728245805 Communication problem with Word Processor

Hi,

I am a complete newbie in Ubuntu and Linx. I have been using OOs and Ubuntu for a little while and OOs did work fine until yesterday (probably due to the "update" and "upgrade" I did the day before).

So it said "Error - Firefox failed to communicate with word processor. Please check whether it has been installed and try again." (sorry not exact, as I have been trying to follow some steps on other posts and now the toolbar in OO is gone...)

Thanks for all your input into the Zotero, it has been great, just don't know why it suddenly didn't work...
  • ah, i have managed to get the toolbar back up.

here is the exact quote i get when click on "insert citation", "Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed and try again."
  • There's no Zotero error in that report. Re-trigger the dialog and try again. Also, make sure you've followed these steps.
  • Thanks for your reply. I have tried those steps. Zotero had been working until last week. And after "sudo apt-get upgrade" and "sudo apt-get update" (though not 100% sure whether this was the cause of it). I have repeated those steps a few times and firefox and OO still failing to communicate with each other.

I have since reinstalled Zotero and the integration plugin but still no luck. I have created a new report: 618212605

    Thanks again Simon. =]
  • This is an AppArmor error. Try the instructions on the troubleshooting page again, and if that doesn't work, try these steps to disable AppArmor entirely. Alternatively, we are working on a new version of Zotero OpenOffice.org Integration that should get rid of these issues, and will probably ship along side Zotero 2.1 in a couple weeks.
  • I have disabled AppArmor before but never worked. I did it again yesterday and still didn't work.

Today for some reason I haven't done anything and it's working! Whoop!

Thank you Simon! And I do look forward to the Zotero 2.1 launch!
