One-Click Add Current URL

This may have already been discussed so please just point me to the information, but...

Would it be possible to have a one-click facility to add the current URL to my library? Right now, the two ways I see for adding the current URL are: (1) if the site is Zotero-enabled, click on the icon in the address form and (2) if the site is not Zotero-enabled, click on "Zotero" icon in lower right corner, click on "Create New Item from Current Page" icon, and close Zotero window. I'd like to be able to have the ability to click one icon on my firefox display and have the current URL handled.

I'm thinking of something like Diigo's tool bar (but not that massive!) or perhaps a second hotspot next to the Zotero icon in the bottom right such that clicking that hotspot would add the current URL. Another possibility might be to set a double-click of the existing Zotero icon to cause an immediate add to the library. I don't know if that's technically feasible, though.

Thank you.

Well, I'd recommend using the shortcut key to open and close the Zotero pane (Cmd-Shift-Z or Ctrl-Alt-Z), but yes, we'll provide a quicker way to do this in the future, as a shortcut key and/or as another toolbar button. (You can add a larger Z to your main toolbar if you prefer a larger button to open the Zotero pane with the mouse.)
  • Thank you, Dan. I had not thought about the keyboard shortcut but that works, too. And a keyboard shortcut as a quick add facility would be fine. Maybe Ctrl-Alt-A for "Add?" :-)
