Word Integration Error

Hi,
I searched the form and discovered that that this error message has been posted on before but no solution was included. If this is incorrect, I would appreciate being redirected to the appropriate resource.

I am trying to use the Word Integration plug in for Mac Word 2004 (using Firefox 3.6, have downloaded and installed Python and plugin as recommended on the Zotero site). But the error below keeps appearing in 2 situations: whenever I open Firefox, and when I click on Preferences (under Tools, Add-Ons):

Zotero Word Integration could not complete because an error occurred
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: u'/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Startup/Word/Zotero.dot'

    Are you logged in as an administrator? This error indicates that you don't have the necessary permission to install the Word plug-in.

    Thanks, how do I log in as an administrator? Would this be for the computer, Zotero, or Firefox?

    My account is the only account on the computer, so I am the administrator. When I installed the applications, however, it did not prompt me for my password as it's done for other things. Should it have prompted me, or is there a way to get it to do so?

    Thank you for the tip. I was able to change permissions to read-write for my admin account.

    Gloucester, did you manage to fix this problem? I'm having the same problem and I'm not clear what permissions you changed. I've changed my administrator permissions for for firefox for the admin account to read-write, but am still getting the same error message. Any pointers much appreciated.

    You'll probably have to change the permissions not for Firefox, but for the Microsoft Office Startup directory -- /Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Startup/Word/

    Make sure that your account can write there.

    Thanks AJLyon, I've tried that without success. It might be that my version of Office is copied from my wife's computer and is causing a problem there. Will wait and reinstall at some point.

    but when I open word, it does not find zotero..i have no idea what to do next
    could someone help me please?

    Hi Cristina. I'm no expert, but try going to Tools / Templates and Add ins. You should see Zotero.dot there. Check it and you should be good to go. If you can't find it, click 'Add'. Mine is in Applications / Microsoft Office / Startup / Word. Hope that helps,

    thank you for you message
    the problem is that when i go to tools/templates and add ins the zotero.dot isnt there
    and when I try the other option you told me Applications / Microsoft Office / Startup / Word there isnt anything i can add.

    any other suggestion?
