How to cite surname only in MS Word

I am new to Zotero and have a citation question. When I cite in MS Word (using APA 6th style), it cites first name as well as surname, thus: (Fairclough, Norman, 1989) - I only want it to cite thus: (Fairclough, 1989). How can I correct this?

I have made just one entry, so this cannot be an issue of distinguishing between different author entries (disambiguation).

Apologies if this has been asked before!
  • look at the data for the item in question - something is wrong there (e.g. you could have "Fairclough, Norman" in a single field in Zotero (you'd see two white boxes after the name and they'd say "switch to two fields" when you hover over them). That seems most likely.
This is indeed not disambiguation - if you encounter that in APA, it would be in the form N. Fairclough, 1989
  • Brilliant! Thanks adamsmith.
