Which Chicago Style is for me?

I am just getting started Zotero and love it so far. I am looking for a little guidance as to which chicago style to use. I am thinking full with bib, but want to nip any problems sooner rather than later. Here is how I am working. Perhaps this will help:

I am writing each chapter in a seperate OOo document. I am using footnotes.

When I complete all of the chpts I will combine them into one doc (as I need to submit in PDF format).

At that point I want to also have a bib at the end of the entire dissertation.

Will I have any problems doing the combination at the end? Is there a reason to use a different Chicago style choice in preferences? Any last words of advice before I get too far along?

Any help is appreciated.

  • That should all work fine - both Zotero and Ooo will update citations and footnotes once you combine the chapters and once you've put them all together you can create the bibliography.
Depending on how exactly the numbering of footnotes etc. will need to be between chapters this may need some extra touches at the end, but nothing big.
Which Chicago style you need is mostly up to you and your department/publisher/advisor, but afaik the Full Note w/ bib style is the most common Chicago style.
  • Great. If I can get one more noob question in...

I am tryiing to get the chicago style to have capitalized FNs. I changed the config page capitalizeTitles to false and it still isn't importing in caps. What am I doing wrong. Currently using Google Scholar.
  • sorry, you need to explain that more - I don't understand - examples are always easiest.
