Many Endnote style cannot be imported into ZOTERO!?

How to import Endnote style into ZOtero if it shows that "Intl J Psychophysiology.ens does not appear to be a valid style file." when you add it directly?

    Generally, Endnote styles don't work terribly well - so you might have to find/help to create a Zotero style anyway (for that purpose try "Elsevier's Harvard Style" in the repository. First look seems like that's equivalent)

    Usually Endnote styles do at least import, though - how are you trying to do that?

    I have never used an Endnote style, so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

    I am importing using the (+) button in the styles tab of the Cite pane of the Zotero preferences.

    that's right, yes. I get the same error on 2.0.9 for the Life Sciences style.

    The error is something about VarDumb not defined in the endstyle.js

    I'm having the same problems. Could you clarify what you meant by "Endnote styles don't work terribly well?" I was hoping to make extensive use of this import option.

    Well, they're just not terribly reliable - some odd issues here and there, multiple citations tend not to work correctly, and the endnote style format is just a lot less powerful than the csl styles Zotero uses - especially now that csl 1.0 is out. I wouldn't recommend relying on it. And you can't even make minimal adjustments if something doesn't quite work - either the style works just as it is, or not at all. I'd really recommend finding and/or adjusting Zotero's own styles.

    It also should be noted that you're probably breaking your EULA with Endnote when you use their styles in Zotero (and that includes all custom made .ens styles) - that's at least what they claim.

    That said, as long as this feature is included in Zotero, it should at least not throw an error - so if a dev could have a look?

    Ah. Thanks. I'll try to get better at editing/making CSL styles then!

    A dev could certainly have a look - I'm not sure what you need to know, though. I was trying to import the Environmental Science and Policy format, called "Environ Science Policy.ens".

    We don't have plans to put more effort into ens style support at this time. Your best bet is to create a CSL, or file a style request on this forum .

    I had this problem too, but never had the problem with my self built styles from endnote. Try re-naming the style, change something in the style and revert it back and see if it works now. Try to give the style a name without a blank space.

    So don't blame Zotero for this, and do contribute towards a dramatically more open alternative (in this case, a CSL version of the style).
