Zotero integration error by using NeoOffice 3.1.2 Patch 2

Hello!

Hopefully someone could help me. Since this month (Jan. 2011) I could not make any citations with Zotero in Neo Office 3.1.2 Patch 2 anymore :( (My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.6)

I tried a lot:

1. I deinstalled my Zotero Firefox Add-ons and installed them again (Firefox was restarted after every step) - I had the same problem again :(

2. I made an update to Zotero 2.1 Beta and did the same for the Office Plug-In - nothing happens to my citation problem :((

3. I downloaded Zotero Standalone Alpha and Zotero Connector for Chrome, but I can not citate any of my stuff which is stored in my library as well - the synchronisation of Zotero Standalone Alpha was going well, and all literature sources are there.

Could someone help me with my problem? PLEASE!!! I need the option of citation because I have to finish my report for the Master of Sciences.

Greetings Jenny!
  • Hi Jenny. Would like to confirm that Zotero 2.1b and Neo 3.1.2 can work together. You do not say exactly what happens when you try inserting a citation (any error messages? Application behaviour? etc.) thus the following is just a user's guess: You may have the same issue I had here here. This could be fixed by (a) installing a Firefox 4beta10 and Simon's suggestion (about half way down the thread) re swapping the the Java preference in OSX.

If the above doesn't do the job for you have a look at the following documentation or post a more specific description of what happens when you try to use the plugin.
    best, kithairon
  • A switch of Java priority from 64bit to 32bit is not working in my case. :(

I've got the message of integration error again. If I try to make a citation the following message appears: (First in german, and below I'll try to translate it for all english speaking helpers):

    Zotero-Interagtionsfehler

    ENGLISH:
    Zotero-integration error
Firefox was not able to load the necessary components for a communication with your word processor (NeoOffice). Please be sure that you have installed the right Firefox add-on and try it again.

Can someone tell me what I can do, see above what I tried and hopefully you have another idea.

    Jenny
  • is your java working in Firefox?

  • Also, make sure you have the latest FF 4beta installed.
  • Thanks for helping.
Yes Java is working in FF and I have a current version of FF.

I found the error, it was a problem with NeoOffice itself. I don't know why but the selection that NeoOffice should use Java was not there, after I clicked it I can make citations again :)

The only problem know is that in some cases the citation has a "c" behind the year: e.g.
"Baum & Kneer 2010c" but I am definitively sure that this citation with this autor is only used ones and not twice or three times. It is a pity but may be it will work without problems tomorrow - I will cross my fingers.

Thanks again for your help :)
  • could it be that you have the same item (Baum&Kneer) three times in your Zotero library?
  • No, I have the item (Baum&Kneer) ones in my Zotero Library.
