Import of author names with multiple initials

I've just noticed that when Zotero imports author names with more than one initial it's stripping out the full stop (period) after the final initial. It's fine when there is only one initial. So for example

Amussen, S. D. => Amussen, S. D
or
Gatrell, V. A. C. => Gatrell, V. A. C

Whereas
Philips, D. => Philips D.

I noticed because I did an import from a BibTex file on which I'd done some cleanup to ensure all initials had their full stops! But it doesn't only happen when importing from BibTex files - it did the same thing when I imported some items from Google Scholar to test it out.

Any idea what might cause this?
  • This is standard Zotero behavior, and it is essentially because styles can specify whether full stops should be used, and Zotero is smarter about inserting than about removing them. You shouldn't need to worry about adding them everywhere.
