Assuming you haven't deleted the rogue copy of py-appscript already, it would be great if you could try the Zotero MacWord Integration Trunk and see if it fixes the issue.

So, what if you have OSX 1.5 as I do? the pythonext only works for snow leopard and above...

Use Firefox 3.6, wait until we can make a build of PythonExt for Firefox 4 that doesn't crash on 10.5, or upgrade to Snow Leopard.
