Downgrading from 2.1 to 2.0
I have been using 2.1b3 for a few months on my Mac with OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6, and I would like to downgrade back to 2.0.9. I was having a few annoying problems with Word integration for Mac, and it's just not as smooth as I remember 2.0 being.
Following the forums and tech suggestions, I have backed-up my zotero directory (storage and zotero.sqlite) to the desktop and have uninstalled Zotero 2.1, Word for Mac 3.1b1 and PythonEXT 2.6.2.20100203. I have deleted Zotero from my Firefox profile as well. Upon reinstalling Zotero 2.0.9, Word for Mac 3.0b7 and rebuilt PythonEXT and moving my back-up directory to the new directory, I am getting this error in Firefox:
"This version of Zotero is older than the version last used with your database. Please upgrade to the latest version from zotero.org. Current version: 2.0.9
See http://zotero.org/support/kb/newer_db_version for more information."
Since I have wiped Zotero clean from Firefox's profile, how can it know I used 2.1? Is this a syncing issue?

edit: and Zotero knows because 2.1 upgrades your database.
I found the following link and followed the directions

At # 4 I did not receive the message that the help page lists “4. Firefox will restart again. You will see an error message stating that Zotero MacWord Integration requires PythonExt. Ignore it.”
At this point I made report 148027513
I continued anyway and re-installed PythonEXT for Word for Mac 3.1b1 and restarted Firefox. At this point I get the same message as before.
This is report 1939297414
This whole debacle started last week when Zotero updated itself. I started getting that message up at the top then, and thought it was finally time to go back to 2.0, but I'm finding that immeasurably difficult, so let’s resolve this. Any ideas?
Disabling MacWord stops the error message, but disabling Python EXT does not.
Current beta users will be prompted to auto-update to the stable release just like they are now for new versions of the beta.
