NeoOffice Zotero Issue

Hi, I am using Zotero 1.0.1 on Mac OS 10.4 and NeoOffice 2.2.4. Whenever I close my document/NeoOffice and reopen it, all the citations I have made are no longer associated with Zotero (they are just regular text). So when I generate a bibliography, it only generates entries for citations I have made since I last opened the document, instead of generating entries for every citation. Any help would be appreciated, since going back and re-entering all the citations in one session is pretty time-consuming!
  • I've had this problem also - I'm using OpenOffice 2.3.0 Writer. Here's what I discovered through trial and error: If you save your document in ODT (open document text) then the Zotero citation fields are preserved (you'll see the grey shading around them).

As soon as save the document in another format, though (for me, it was as a .DOC format to send it to someone using Microsoft Office), then all your citation fields simply show up as text...IN other words, your document's editable citations are GONE! Save your document safely as an ODT before doing any of this or you risk losing all ability to add or change citations in your document.

I don't know if this is a bug or simply a by-product of saving the document in a proprietary language which kills the Zotero citation fields.
  • I am using Zotero 1.0.6 on Mac OS 10.5 and NeoOffice 2.2.4, and after trial and error I thought I could reliably avoid losing Zotero citation field recognition when I close and reopen the file by using "Bookmarks" instead of "Referencemarks" (when saving documents as Word 97/etc/etc .doc instead of .odt). This worked for a few days, but now I suddenly can't even insert citations into the file that was previously working so well, although I can insert citations just fine in new files. I don't know if the two problems are related, so you might try bookmarks in .doc. I'll try .odt. JohnDoc, do you know if it matters whether you use bookmarks or refmarks in .odt?
