Can't install zotero plugin in open office Error: NS_ERROR_MALFORMED_URI

I currently have:
Ubuntu 10.04
Firefox 3.6.13
OpenOffice 3.2.1 (Oracle)

using the default file paths in the addon reinstalling says its okay but no toolbar shows up in OO. When I change it to the real path, it give me an error saying OO is open (which it isn't) and then this malformed URI error in the error log.

I have tried reinstalling firefox, sun-java6, and OO but none of this helped.

I believe the error occurred when I updated firefox last, but I'm not sure anymore.

Please help, I need my references back.

    What are your paths? They need to be file URIs, not plain POSIX paths, which might be the issue.

    I finally got it installed.
    I uninstalled a bunch of stuff like KDE which was giving me possibly unrelated URI errors, and went back to the ubuntu packaged version of OO.
    Its frustrating not knowing why it wouldn't work before, but at least I can use it now
