Winword Plugin 3.1a2 incompatible with Zotero 2.1b2

I'm trying to install Zotero 2.1b2 on Windows 7 64bit with Firefox 4.0b8 32bit and Word 2010 32bit. Whenever I click on "Install Word Add-in" I get a message indicating that I need the correct Zotero Version "Zotero 2.1a1.SVN or later".
I guess beta 2 should be greater than a1, but the plug-in thinks differently. I already tried to adjust the settings in install.rdf, but that didn't make any difference.
Please provide an updated version that works or give any advice how to get it working.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
René
  • Are you sure you have both the extension and plugin from the 2.1 Beta page? What versions of each do you see in the Firefox Add-ons pane?

I have the same problem: Windows 7 (32 bits NL) on iCore7 950/6 Gb RAM - Firefox 4.0b8 NL (about:config item set to en-us) - MS Office 2010 NL - zotero 2.1b2 installed including the plugins for Word and OpenOffice on the SAME page. Everything installed - restarted Firefox - had to change the general.user.locale item to get to the options menu of Zotero. But now an unknown error occurs in Firefox (Zotero icon visible but not running) and Word generates the same message as rene_hof reported.
Versions of Zotero: Zotero 2.1b2 / WinWord integration 3.1a2 / OpenOffice Integration 3.1a2.
BTW: Xmarks 3.9.2 runs just fine.
Thanks in advance for any solutions and/or suggestions.

  • I can't reproduce this. Make sure you've followed Dan's workaround here, and try deleting extensions.sqlite in your profile directory. Does Zotero work in Firefox 3.6.13?
  • The workaround with manually unzipping the xpi and afterwards deleting it worked for me. Thank you very much.
  • I have done the same: using Dan's workaround worked for me as well. The plugins now also install in LibreOffice 3.3b2 and WinWord 2010 and are available as extensions.
Zotero does work in Firefox 3.6.13 as well as in the new Firefox 4.0b8.
Thanks for the info and suggestions.
